THE ARTS SOCIAL
As a result of our Health & Wellbeing consultation that we undertook back in the Autumn of 2022, we were granted funding to begin a weekly sociable arts evening. In our consultation we received lots of requests for creative activities, from painting to sewing, and book clubs to crafting, there was an appetite for a space where people could get together and be creative. These are all activities that could take place in people's homes, but the fact that people were requesting a space to do this also suggested a desire to connect with others. So we brough you... The Arts Social! A weekly meet-up in a community space where a local artist offers inspiration and guidance in their medium. We worked with 4 different artists who guided us through watercolours, collage, textiles, still life and printing.
The funded element of this project is now over, but we plan to resume the group on a monthly basis in 2024, so watch this space for future sessions. This project is for anyone who would like to be creative and meet others in a relaxed environment thereby increasing their activity levels. You do not need to be good at drawing or painting... or anything(!) to take part. We believe that the social element of being together and being creative is really beneficial to our wellbeing, and whilst being creative can be physical, it is also more accessible to those who are less mobile, so please don't write-off this opportunity just because you 'can't draw'.
