WW1 Street Party a huge success.

Houghton & Wyton Timebank was honured to be part of the organising committee for a WW1 Commemoration Street Party at the Clock Tower in Houghton on Saturday 4th August. Over 200 people attended this free event with sandwiches provided by The Three Horseshoes, The WI providing soft drinks and the Timebank providing cakes and man power to set up and clear away. Around 200 poppies were painted and added to a display on the Clock Tower which will continue to grow in the months leading up to November.

Entertainment was provided by local community acts, including The Knottley's, Houghton & Wyton Community Singers, Huntingdon Youth Theatre and Opera Singer Karen England.

The event was a huge success with a mention in the local newspaper the Hunts Post. Many thanks to everyone who gave time and made this event so wonderful. Another event is booked to take place on Wednesday 7th November with a tea dance more details to follow.
